Notes on L-Argenine

L Arginine:
Boosts immune system
Enhances athletic performance
Prevents and remedy for erectile dysfunction
Remedy for sexual dysfunction in women

Also claimed to benefit: dementia. high blood pressure, migraines, male infertility, shorten recovery time after surgery.

L-argenine and Viagra

Like Viagra, L-argenine enhances nitric oxide in the body, which relaxes the blood vessels and increases blood flow. Nitric oxide is vital to achieve an erection. It also is beneficial for learning and memory, among lots of other awesome benefits. The difference in how Viagra and L-argenine work in the body is that Viagra blocks an enzyme (PDES) that destroys nitric oxide, while L argenine makes more nitric oxide. Also unlike Viagra, L argenine is taken every day for erectile dysfunction.

Side effects of taking L-argenine as a supplement

L-argenine is safe when taken for short term periods. Potential side effects of taking a supplement long term, and especially high doses, are: indigestion, nausea, headaches, bloating and diarrhea, allergies, worsening of asthma and airway inflammation. Not recommended for anyone pregnant, who had diabetes or who has suffered a heart attack.

Amouts of L-argenine found in nuts and seeds

Standard dose of L-argenine for erectile dysfunction is 4000 mgs.

100 gms is less than half a cup.
1/2 cup = 113.4 grams.

Note: after researching these numbers further, after shooting the video, I found a lot of discrepancy among the levels of L-argenine stated for different nuts and seeds. Most nuts and seeds are quite high, and these are some of the highest sources. Black walnut was the highest nut listed by most sources, higher than regular English walnuts.
