Ruud van Empel creates digitally enhanced photographs with a dream-like quality. His idyllic scenes of children in lush tropical settings evoke a modern Eden, but a paradise shrouded with mystery. These complex works are bursting with life and color. Lush, surreal, immaculate, flawless beauty that brings up a discussion of perfection and innocence. Join me on a voyage that borders reality and imagination through the portal of Rud van Empel’s visions.  || Read more

It has been awhile since I have posted an update on Mom and how she is doing. She’s doing great. Not that it’s easy. Most of you may know that Mom had a stroke, almost 2 years ago – 2 years this coming April.  Mom has been steadily doing better and it is just recently that I am seeing more improvements. Our virtual trip today takes us to the Harbin Ice and Snow Festival. This festival is amazing with full size buildings made from blocks of 2–3 feet thick of crystal clear ice cut from the Songhua River and lit up in many colors. Quite fascinating and beautiful.  This is ‘Ice and Snow World’ but there is also an exhibition at Sun Island with enormous snow sculptures as well as ice and snow sculptures throughout the city.  || Read more

Ok, I am going to blast a post off with lots of cold weather pictures and then that’s it for me.. it’s all tropical rain forests and beaches in my mind for the next month! Maybe if I post enough cold weather pics I’ll come to grips with – the fact that I live in Canada – and that it is winter. sigh. I love our country but I seriously don’t think that many people really want to be here in the middle of the winter. I guess it’s because of family that we stay ..but really I don’t think humans were designed for these extreme cold temperatures. This is crazy. Well, grab your parka and bundle up.. we’re diving in. But right after this post, or maybe right after Christmas, that’s it – I’m hitting the hot tub, defrosting and hibernating to a cozy retreat in my mind where the sand is toasty and the sun is beaming down on me in a bikini.  || Read more
