My favorite vegan protein shakes are made using hemp protein powder and SunWarrior protein powder. I am going to give you 4 recipes showing the ways I most like to make them. They range from the more elaborate and decadently delicious Creamy Cacao Hemp Protein Shake, with lots of maca added in, to the very, very simple.  Banana Berry is another favorite flavor and I have 2 versions included here, one made with hemp protein powder and one with SunWarrior, so we are covering all the bases. Whatever you are in the mood for, I’ve got you covered on the vegan protein shake frontier.  Come check out how I most like to make them! 

 

I have tried every vegan protein powder I can find. I have about 6 containers of different ones out in my kitchen right now. My favorites that I keep coming back to are 1. Ruths Hemp  Protein, and I like and use both the regular and the one with added E3Live and Maca (costs more, but how amazing!!) and 2. SunWarrior. I have all 3 flavors of SunWarrior: Regular, Vanilla and Chocolate. I will definitely buy either vanilla or chocolate next time, and if I can only have one it will be vanilla, for it’s diversity.  I think both of these brands are the most nutritious and top quality vegan protein powders out there.

My Favorite Vegan Protein Shakes Recipes

 

Creamy Cacao Hemp Protein Shake

Ingredients

1 cup Almond Milk
1 Banana
1 Scoop Hemp (or SunWarrior) Protein
1 Tbsp Cacao powder
1 Tbsp Almond butter
1 Tbsp Maca
1 Medjool Date
1 tsp Vanilla
½ tsp Cinnamon

Directions

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend.

Berry Banana Hemp Protein Shake

Ingredients

1 cup Almond Milk
1 Banana
1 Scoop Hemp (or SunWarrior) Protein
½ cup Blueberries

Directions

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend.

Another Banana Berry one, but this time it is made more simply, just with water. I used SunWarrior Vanilla protein powder this time.

Berry Banana Vegan Protein Shake

Ingredients

1 cup Water
1 Banana
1 Scoop SunWarrior Protein
½ cup Blueberries

Directions

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend.

The last protein shake recipe is almost too simple to post, except that it is the one I make most often. This is mainly because of wanting something super simple and easy to make, and this one only needs to be shaken, not put into a blender like the others.  At home, I really like things that are easy to make in the kitchen!

Also, I think it’s worth pointing out here the difference between these protein powders. I have no doubt that the hemp protein powder is the most nutritious of the two, and I try to get more of it into my diet. Not only do I believe it to be most nutritious, but also it is much less expensive of the two and so it is a double winner. But what SunWarrior has going for it, is that it is the first vegan protein powder I’ve tried that actually tastes good. It is the only one I have that I am happy to just shake with water and drink like that. It also is nutritious, just not to the level of hemp. However, it is my evening go-to protein shake. As you probably know, I love to workout, and I know that muscles repair and build at night. So, it is best to give them protein to work with. If it is evening and I am hungry, I want to eat less carbs and calories in general, and so this is the perfect light snack.  Low cal, high protein, simple.

Vegan Protein Shake

Ingredients

1 cup Water
1 Scoop SunWarrior Protein

Directions

Place all ingredients in a jar, put on top and shake.

So simple. Just shake protein powder and water and drink!

My favorite of all is the Creamy Cacao Hemp Protein Shake, It’s delicious and followed very closely by the Banana Berry Hemp Protein Shake. They are all delicious and excellent. Try them all and let me know your favorite!
