We’re all a little weird. And life is a little weird. And when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall into mutually satisfying weirdness—and call it love—true love.” ~ Robert Fulghum   || Read more

Ruud van Empel creates digitally enhanced photographs with a dream-like quality. His idyllic scenes of children in lush tropical settings evoke a modern Eden, but a paradise shrouded with mystery. These complex works are bursting with life and color. Lush, surreal, immaculate, flawless beauty that brings up a discussion of perfection and innocence. Join me on a voyage that borders reality and imagination through the portal of Rud van Empel’s visions.  || Read more

Today we are heading to a tea plantation, called Suvirun, which is located in the province of Chiang Rai in Thailand. Tea is harvested here every 6 weeks and from the leaves oolong tea is made.  Oolong tea is made from the leaves of the camellia sinensis, like black, green and white teas. What differentiates it is the way that it is processed and of the 4 types, oolong is the most difficult one to process.  || Read more

Ok, I am going to blast a post off with lots of cold weather pictures and then that’s it for me.. it’s all tropical rain forests and beaches in my mind for the next month! Maybe if I post enough cold weather pics I’ll come to grips with – the fact that I live in Canada – and that it is winter. sigh. I love our country but I seriously don’t think that many people really want to be here in the middle of the winter. I guess it’s because of family that we stay ..but really I don’t think humans were designed for these extreme cold temperatures. This is crazy. Well, grab your parka and bundle up.. we’re diving in. But right after this post, or maybe right after Christmas, that’s it – I’m hitting the hot tub, defrosting and hibernating to a cozy retreat in my mind where the sand is toasty and the sun is beaming down on me in a bikini.  || Read more

Be like water making its way through cracks. Do not be assertive, but adjust to the object, and you shall find a way around or through it. If nothing within you stays rigid, outward things will disclose themselves.

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.” ~Bruce Lee  || Read more

Today we are going treehouse shopping. Our mission is to pick the best treehouse to spend the day in, and weekend too if you like. Or maybe we will never come back! What would make the perfect tree house for you? I think some great features would include: a tropical warm location, swings with long ropes so we can swing really high, a diving board and a deep natural pool underneath lined with plants and pebbles that filter out impurities (no chemicals or UV filters), hammocks, dry compost toilets, fruit trees nearby – a mango tree is optimal! and a nearby natural spring with pure water. We can pipe it in for running spring water if it isn’t already, solar panels to heat the water and keep the treehouse cozy on cool evenings, and to light up our glow lights. A treehouse that rocks a little in the wind, just slightly, nothing scary, would be good.  || Read more
