Good Morning and Happy Sunday to you!  I have been thinking about putting together a newsletter lately and something a lot more personal that this image above!  I have been racking my brains thinking how I want it and searching on how to do it.  I will admit it has been challenging my new-found tekie skilled brain! But I will conquer it and figure this out and have a newsletter up and running soon.

I just wanted to share my plans. I am new to all this and it’s a big new learning curve for me. But I am hopeful that I will figure it all out quickly. So until I get this set up, I may post a little less this week (just a little) and I may be experimenting a bit on my site at some point, after I figure this all out.

What will be in the newsletter?

My plan for this is to have:
~ A recap of the weeks posts
~ Interesting bits of information from the past week that I have stumbled upon and want to share.
~ Micro recipes
~ Health, weight loss and fitness tips
~ Bits of great information or inspiration that are not enough for a  whole blog post
~ Motivation and inspiration

Why do I want an email newsletter?

A few reasons:

~ I connect a lot on facebook and post there regularly, but I know a lot of my friends and readers do not use facebook and I want a better way to connect.

~ To have a bit more of a personal connection. I weighed the pros and cons of this blog with my older rawketscience blog and found that while I prefer this one as a means to share healthy information and ideas, some of the fun and funkiness of rawketscience is lacking. I am thinking this newsletter will be a bit more personal and creative, while still having cool new tips, micro recipes and updates.

~ Weekly newsletters can be saved and archived. I love all the fun bits of info I share on facebook, but it gets lost and it all is ultimately facebook’s property.  So potentially one day I could not even access it. That’s life and it’s not an issue for me, but I really like the idea of archived e-mails.

~ A weekly email can have a list of the posts made in the week, so if you are busy you can just check the Sunday email and see if there is anything interesting you want to check out from the previous week.

~ I can think lots of scenarios where it may be helpful. Maybe I will want to have a sandbag workout week, or a weekly challenge, and want you to know about it beforehand. This would be perfect to let you know.

~If I come out with a course, book, or some brilliant new idea I can share it better via e-mail and have more chance that you will see it.

~ I know people are more likely to check a weekly email than check my blog every day, although I would love it if you did!  So it’s a better way to let you know the most important information, and you can click links if you are interested in anything to find out more.

With an email newsletter, we get more of a connection and it is unintrusive to you, being only once a week and an email that you can open or not. Of course you will want to, I will fill it full of love and empowering healthy ideas that will make you happy and smile, but you will have the choice. I think this will be a real enhancement to the site that will add more connection and depth.

I am planning to post about 5 days per week, and send out the newsletter each Sunday morning. Sound good?  If you have any ideas or suggestions, feel free to share and let me know! I’m doing this to connect with you!

But now my challenge!

I have a plan, which is a great start. However after evenings of searching, reading and watching videos I am wondering if this is more challenging than building the website was. But I did that, and I can do this.  I have a lot to learn. I realized I didn’t even know how to ask for what I wanted. The lingo is all new to me, opt in form, autoresponder, api key, email services, plug ins, widgets, who do I go to for what? each newsletter is called a campaign? Can’t I just call it a love note? ..and the codes!!!? eeks.  But I am diving back into my research now and hope I come up with something fabulous to share with you!

This is what I have so far..
