I tested a new healthy breakfast cereal recipe yesterday. I love testing out combinations of superfoods and this combination is a winner. Mom loves it. She’s had a few bowls of it already! It is a little like oatmeal, except that there are no oats or grain at all in this one. It is made up of the most nutritious seeds with goji berries, maca, vanilla and cinnamon that come together as pure awesomeness in your bowl. You will feel revitalized and full of energy after a big bowl of this warming, filling and delicious superfood cereal combo! 

 

This healthy breakfast cereal reminds me of instant oatmeal because first you have the initial dry part mixed up, which you can store easily, and then when you are ready for a bowl you just mix a half cup of your pre-made dry superfood cereal mix with ¾’s cup of hot water. Stir and it thickens up in a minute, or less, into an oatmeal-like cereal. I like mine with almond milk and a bit of maple syrup drizzled on top. Mom prefers hers just plain.

Healthy Breakfast Cereal Recipe

Warm Chia Hemp Super Cereal

Ingredients

½ cup Hemp
½ cup Chia – ground
¼ cup Sunflower Seeds – ground
¼ cup Sesame seeds – 2 Tablespoons ground
¼ cup Buckwheat groats
¼ cup Goji berries
1 Tbsp Maca
1 tsp Vanilla powder (or ground vanilla beans, if you don’t have omit)
½ tsp Cinnamon

Directions

Grind seeds that need to be ground together in a blender. Then remove to a bowl and all the rest of ingredients and mix together. Store in an air tight container or bottle until ready to eat.

note: Often sunflower seeds are soaked first to boost nutrition. For this recipe we need them dry and they are easier to grind when dry. You could soak them first and then dehydrate, to dry them before grinding. I took the easy route and ground them without soaking first. Info on nutritional benefits of soaking seeds here.

To Serve

Pour a half cup of dry cereal in a bowl and add ¾ cup of hot water. Stir and within a minute it will thicken up. Then eat just like this or add almond milk and sweetener if desired.

Assemble ingredients

Turn on a few seconds to grind them.

Transfer ground seeds to a bowl and add the rest of ingredients.

Mix all together.

When ready to eat, just mix with hot water and stir. It thickens up quickly and is ready in about half a minute.

Eat it plain, or add almond milk and maple syrup or favorite sweetener. It doesn’t really need sweetener though, as the goji berries sweeten it and it is naturally sweet.
